Born and raised on the island of 'Oahu, Hawaii, Chef Adam attributes his early appreciation for food to his mother, a career homemaker born and raised on 'Oahu, and to his father. Chef Adam took Home Economics class in high school, not knowing it would lead to a lifetime of culinary discoveries.  He attended Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon, where he was exposed to classical traditions.  After graduating from WCI in 1998, he spent some time apprenticing at OBA Restaurante in Portland, Oregon as the Sous Chef and then later at Roy's Restaurants Bar & Grill in Kihei and Kahana Maui as the Executice Sous Chef.

In 2008, he opened his first restaurant as a partner in Corvallis, Oregon called Aqua Seafood Restaurant & Bar and Loca Luna Restaurant & Bar.  However, the desire to move home and in 2010 he moved his family to 'Oahu, Hawaii.  Then in 2012 relocating back to Oregon.

Today, with the support of his ohana, Chef Adam Kekahuna now has created No Ka Oi Catering Company located in West Linn, Oregon.
